Artist Statement
I am inspired by the fantastical lives we have given plants. Throughout history, plants have been used as symbols and metaphors to tell our human stories. In our myths, they sprouted from tears, blossomed as the spirits of children, and grew from the blood of battlefields. They were woven through our superstitions. We have included them in our childhood songs and games. We have used them to communicate love, sorrow, and regret. I search for myself in plants and their historical metaphors, and I tell my own stories of meaning and mystery.
